Reuters: U.S. Army Sergeant Bergdahl pleads guilty to desertion
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (Reuters) - U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, accused of endangering fellow soldiers who searched for him after he walked off his combat outpost in Afghanistan in 2009 and was captured by the Taliban, pleaded guilty on Monday to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.
In court in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Bergdahl admitted leaving his post in Paktika province in June 2009. He said he got lost after 20 minutes, was captured two or three hours later, and that he never wanted to put anyone at risk.
“I was captured by the enemy against my will,” the 31-year-old Idaho native told the hearing. “At the time I had no intention of causing search and recovery operations. ... It’s very inexcusable.”
The offense of misbehavior before the enemy carries a possible life sentence. Neither side has said whether Bergdahl has entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors.

WNU Editor: The desertion charge carries a maximum 5 years sentence. The misbehavior charge is the serious one .... the maximum is life. No agreement was made for this plea deal, which means that U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Berghdahl is facing jail time, and (I can only presume) no salary reimbursement.

As a swede, like Bergendahl is of heritage, I hope for life imprisonment for this low-life.

In this particular case Kaepernick is not at fault, but it is the fault of those the say 'Murrica'.
Compare America to a similar size country like Russia, China or Brasil and it comes out ahead.
All the anti-Americanists on the Left feed this line of BS that makes people think that it is worse.
That in large part explains Bergdahl.
Because Bergdahl had these Leftist views life was tough for him. It does not excuse what he did, but it explains some of it. We cannot measure psychological pressure like we measure stress in materials (PSI or whatever), but I bet Bergdahl was under a lot of stress. I have seen another person undergo such stress from their peers.
He should have let it roll off his back 'like water off a duck's back' and upon the end of his contract go to university wear his hair long, get a tie dye t-shirt, and protest about something or rather.
I've been under a great deal of stress too. I wanted to serve America in combat against our enemies. Due to my vision or lack thereof I could not.
Now I must watch our idiot leaders endanger our security in ways that not only don't advance our intersts but undrmine them. Also, I must endure the likes of Bergdahl knowing I would have gladly died to try and find him as some of our people did. I must endure our media making him a hero.
