Emile Simpson, Business Insider/Foreign Policy: How the US and Russia can avoid getting sucked into a war
In the last month, for the first time since the civil war in Syria began in 2011, the United States has directly attacked Syrian government forces or proxies — not just once, but at least four times. The urgent question now is less about Syria than Russia. In response to the latest of these incidents, in which a US fighter plane shot down a Syrian jet, Moscow has threatened to target any US-led coalition aircraft flying over Syria. That would mark a massive escalation, and potentially the first direct great-power conflict in recent memory.
Can a war in the Middle East between Russia and the United States be averted? The answer is yes — but only if Washington clears up the massive confusion its own lack of strategy has caused.

WNU Editor: As I had explained in this post .... This Is Why Russia Will Not Engage In An Air War Against The U.S. Over The Skies Of Syria (June 24, 2017) .... there is going to be no war between the U.S. and Russia. As to what will Syria, Hezbollah, and Iran do .... now that is a different story.

I would be interested to know your opinion about:
1- Why Iran and Syria might want to engage the US since they will loose everything? is there anything in a war with US for them?
2- if the US goes to war with them what Russia does?

Russia warns that they will monitor all flights beyond Euphrates river; in other words he agrees to a division of Old Syrian lands.
The Russian bear has a big mouth with very few teeth and until it got to play soldier in Syria, that Bear just ran and hid behind The Russian borders.
Its'military has been fighting a well armed but damn poorly led and trained , civilian militia force.
It has been good as an easy way to train their own men and also a great place to test tactics and newest weaponry, live fire exercizes with real live targets, and it is Syrians'dying not their own people.
Their military base in Syria was not already surrounded by hostiles, and now even that base is surrounded: NATO and old Soviet block nations are chomping at bits awaiting an opertune momentto cross the BeRs den off the mapIn Syria they are surrounded by all of ME cfamily corporTes posing as nations and unknown numbers of African volunteer mercenaries guixed by damn neR every surocentrics boots on ground Spec Ops.
Israel by itself has 10x-20x's the fire power of Russia that is but less than 15 minutes from lUnch to All Syrian lands
Less than 60 miles from Jorda, Iraq and Israel to capital Damascus.
